This policy applies to customers using the Lavaggio app to book car wash services and service providers registered on Lavaggio. This policy complies with Uganda‘s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.

Data We Collect
1. Information You Provide
Account information: name, email, phone number, password (stored in encrypted/bashed form only)
Profile information: vehicle details (make, type, plate number), preferences
Payment information: payment method details, transaction history Customer support: inquiries and feedback you submit
2. Information Automatically Collected
Location data: GPS-based location collected only when you actively use the app to request services, for service matching and delivery
Usage data: app interactions, session duration, features used
Service data: booking details, date, time, service type, address

Payment processors for transaction verification
Law enforcement or government authorities when required by law
Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
We process personal data based on one or more of the following lawful bases under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019:
Performance of a contract: To provide car wash services, match you with service providers, process payments, and fulfill your bookings.
Consent: For marketing communications, optional location tracking, and other purposes where you’ve given explicit permission.
Legitimate interests: To improve our services, ensure safety and security, prevent fraud, and conduct business analytics (balanced against your rights).
Legal obligation: To comply with Ugandan laws, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Vital interests: To protect your safety or the safety of others in emergency situations.
You have the right to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent as the legal basis.
How We Use Your Data

Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will:
Notify the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
Notify affected users without undue delay if the breach poses a high risk to your personal data.
Provide clear information about the nature of the breach, potential consequences, and measures taken to address it.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide services and comply with legal requirements:
Account information: retained while your account is active
Booking and transaction records: retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance under Ugandan law
Location data: retained only during active service requests and deleted once the service is completed
Marketing consent records: retained until consent is withdrawn
You may request account deletion at any time. However, we may retain certain data for legal, safety, or fraud
prevention purposes as permitted by law.
Your Rights Under Ugandan Law
Under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you have:
- Right to access your personal data.
- Right to correct inaccurate information.
- Right to data portability (receive your data in a standard format).

Lavaggio‘s services are not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe we have collected information from a child should contact us immediately.

Your data is primarily stored and processed in Uganda. If we transfer data outside Uganda, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Significant changes will be notified through the app, email, or push notification. Continued use of our services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
